Catherine Marie Viator Billot, 63, died on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Denver, Colorado hospice. Catherine was born on October 1, 1958 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The third of eight children, she knew early on that her passion and natural talent for art would have an important role in her life. Graduating in 1977 from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, she moved to Houston, Texas shortly thereafter and quickly began her first career in insurance. The relationships she has developed in this industry will help shape the rest of her life. Her first child (Jason Viator) was born in Houston, Texas, in 1982. Catherine met her husband David in 1987 through her then insurance friends (Marla, David’s sister and Charlene (sister-in-law David) 1989 and had a child together (Megan) in 1994. The family moved to Colorado in 2000. With a magnetic personality and stunning beauty, Catherine was also a talented artist. portraits, landscapes and horses, among other subjects, mainly in oils. and watercolors. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in illustration art from the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in 2016. After obtaining her degree, she began her new career as an illustrator at the University of Denver in 2017. She will be remembered for her love of family, art, gardening, reading, skiing, travel, hiking and stargazing from her mountain property “The Catherine Ma rie Ranch “. Originally from Louisiana (aka A Proud Cajun), Catherine was also a loyal and passionate New Orleans Saints fan of football.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 32 years, David Billot. One son, Jason Viator; one daughter, Megan Billot; his mother, Clara Dean Viator of Lake Charles; sisters, Frannie Viator McCall of Sugar Land, Texas, Michelle Viator of Lake Charles, La., Beth Viator Dupuis (husband Richard) of Lake Charles, La .; three brothers, Keith Viator (wife Becky) of Lake Charles, La., Greg Viator (wife Shari) of Gillis, La., and Eric Viator of Lake Charles, La .; one grandson, Rylee Viator; and his godchildren, Brooklyn and Brandon McCall.
She is predeceased by her father, Ervin Pierre Viator; and his older brother, Patrick Viator. A special note of thanks and love goes to the Catherine Oncology and Hospital teams at Colorado Blood Cancer Institute and Presbyterian / St. Luke’s Hospital which has cared for Catherine for its last 4.5 years (Dr Peter McSweeney, Sarah Buehler, Tina Rookstool and all their amazing support staff). You all became a second family for Catherine and you gave her hope when there was little, strength when she was weak, and above all gave her life when there was none. We will be eternally grateful to you all.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. with the eulogy of Catherine’s life starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3939 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA 70605 Monsignor Daniel Torres, officer.
