Danny DeVito is amazing as Wolverine in new Alex Ross X-Men art

Wolverine has never looked so good as in this portrayal of actor Danny DeVito portraying it, as imagined in the prodigious new illustrations from acclaimed comic book illustrator Alex Ross.

Ross’s sketch depicts an imaginary film adaptation of the character starring DeVito as the Adamantium-infused Canadian hero and co-starring John Hurt, Harry Dean Stanton and Sigourney Weaver. Check out the Tweet below:

In style, likeness, and casting choices shown, the poster looks like something stripped down as far back as the 1980s. Sadly, this particular cast setup is unlikely to come to fruition as some of the names mentioned are actors who are now deceased and DeVito himself is almost 70 years old.

However, aside from his age, DeVito appears to be a worthy successor to lead the character after Hugh Jackman retires from the role, as DeVito’s height is more in line with Wolverine, compared to Jackman.

Considering the clawed badass with a penchant for raging madness himself was born in the 1800s, according to the comics, we also don’t think DeVito’s age is too disadvantageous to portray the character.

Either way, it’ll be interesting to see who takes on the role now that Wolverine and the X-Men are enveloped in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
