Escape to a fantasy world with La Clique
SINGAPORE – Entertainment is a type of personal care that is not talked about as often. Performers and performers spend years honing their craft so they can take their audience – yes you – to a fantasy world, putting your worries aside for the duration of the performance.
As Henry Moore once said, “The soul cannot prosper without art.” In Singapore, it’s been 18 months since life was disrupted and the art that many enjoy – movies, theater, performances, live bands, music played in bars / restaurants – all suffered varying levels of restrictions, everything like our collective mental well-being.
Arts and live entertainment are cautiously returning to high demand, as is the suit Kumar’s stand-up at Marina Bay Sands, Love, MICapella in concert, and finally, an international act that survived four postponements to arrive in Singapore, The Clique.
La Clique is the first theatrical performance featuring an international cast to return from the Singapore Circuit Breaker in April last year. Presented for a limited season from September 22 to November 7 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center, the show is a combination of circus, comedy and variety of contemporary cabaret, to a soundtrack by the La Clique Palais Orkestra quartet.
The exhibition venue will be transformed into a 360-degree immersive space that can accommodate up to 250 people per show, spaced out via two seats, meaning a family of more than two will have to sit separately.
Yahoo Life Southeast Asia was in attendance for the media preview during the Mid-Autumn Festival, so here’s a quick look at what happened.
La Clique Singapore boasts an impressive lineup of acts. Be entertained by Master of Ceremonies Bernie Dieter, also a world renowned cabaret artist, songwriter and performance artist described as the ‘undisputed queen of punk cabaret’, who will introduce the various artists on the lineup and keep us entertained with his voice throughout the show.
Sword swallower and fire eater Heather Holliday is the star, always garnering the loudest applause with her death-defying deeds.
Acrobat Oscar Kaufmann will perform La Clique’s famous âBath Boyâ routine to an intense soundtrack. The first few rows could be splashed with the droplets as it swerved and rippled between the tub and the air.
That’s not all. Trapeze performer Elke performed a catchy dance in the air that touched our hearts; Lisa Lottie, artist and professional Hula Hoop performer, brought a lot of fun between acts; while acrobatic roller skating duo The Skating Willers, turned heads with their stunning set.
âAs a premier entertainment destination, supporting events like these is an important step towards relaunching the entertainment experience at Marina Bay Sands and Singapore,â said Paul Town, senior vice president of operations. Marina Bay Sands Resort.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all guests, Sands Expo will implement several measures before, during and after each performance. These measures include temperature monitoring and SafeEntry registration via a token or TraceTogether app, increased site cleaning and disinfection, and the deployment of safe distance ambassadors to ensure that safe distance measures are adhered to. .
