GCT Students Become Published Authors, Illustrators | News

Greene County Tech Elementary announced that 18 of its students have become published authors through a national student publishing program.

As part of the publishing process, second graders planned, wrote, and illustrated their own books using a free publishing kit provided by Studentreasures Publishing. The subject of their books was kindness.

Students in Mrs. Mandy Ballard’s class worked hard on their books for several weeks. The idea for their kindness book began when they started discussing ways to spread kindness to others. The students invested a lot of time and effort in the project.

“I’m very proud of each one of them,” Ballard said.

The Studentreasures publishing program offers teachers an easy way to integrate any lesson plan – from math and science to history, art, and more. – in a fun and memorable activity. Publishing a book in the classroom engages students through hands-on learning and inspires a love of reading and writing.

The best part? A classroom full of proud, smiling young authors with memories that last a lifetime, plus a deluxe full-color hardcover book for the teacher or school library. Parents of students also have the opportunity to purchase copies of these unique childhood memories.
