Doodle makes you easy and effective to tell a story, but you might not have the talent to bring your ideas to life.

This is where Blush comes in. By eliminating the difficulty of creation, Blush lets you tell the stories you want without having to rely on your unreliable hands to do it.

What is blush?

Blush is a free online design tool that lets you create totally unique illustrations. There is a wide range of design options available, all of which offer insane customization. No matter what you want to create, Blush lets you do it.

The process is easy, powerful, and surprisingly fun. Best of all, Blush covers everything you create under its license, which means you’re allowed to use every graphic you create without the need for attribution, even for commercial purposes.

Blush is free for everyone, although it comes with several additional features available only to those who want to upgrade to its Pro plan, which costs $ 12 / month.

Blush is even available as a plugin for Figma and Sketch. This means you can test and develop your illustrations seamlessly, without having to worry about clumsily working between two programs.

How does blush work?

Getting started with Blush is easy. If you can’t choose a design, you can just click the Create random button, and Blush will automatically do most of the work for you.

But let’s say you want to start from scratch. First of all, you need to choose a style for your illustration. There is a huge range of collections available, each featuring different styles and themes, so choose what catches your eye.

There is also the possibility to sort the illustrations by category. Suppose you are looking to create an illustration of a cat. You can browse the collections that feature animals.

In terms of illustrations, there is a huge range here. People of all shapes and sizes, families, plants, animals and even cities are present.

Once you’ve picked a collection, you’ll notice that there are a variety of different characters and scenes to choose from. You don’t need any sophisticated editor or software; Once you’ve picked the scene or character that best captures your artistic vision, the left side of the screen will give you various customization options.

You can mix and match them freely. Most of the collections have an impressive number of different hairstyles, skin tones and facial features that you can choose from to really capture your idea. The options for the upper and lower body are also common, so you can create something that is truly yours.

And if you can’t decide what you want the illustration to look like, you can mix the design up with just one button, creating a completely random character. You can even lock down certain aspects of the character, like their clothing, which is great for quickly creating a crowd of people in uniforms, for example.

If you absolutely love the options that a collection gives you, you can even search for the artist who created it. Some artists have more than one collection that you may be able to use.

Once you’re happy with your creation, you can save and share it. If you’ve created a Blush account, you can save up to five designs for free and come back and edit them later. Otherwise, you can share them with others by entering a shareable link or uploading the image yourself.

When you share your design through a shareable link, you can make it read-only or allow others to access the editor in case you want to collaborate. When you upload your design, you can choose from PNG and SVG file formats, although the latter is only available to Pro users.

Other people’s creations are also shared within the community. You can open and edit them yourself, changing fine details or large areas to your liking.

What is included in the Blush Pro package?

If you’ve tried Blush before, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of features aren’t available to free users. While downloads remain unlimited regardless of your plan, free users can only save five models for later use, for example.

This changes if you upgrade to the Pro plan. You have access to an unlimited number of saved designs, regardless of their complexity, as well as a host of other features.

Some options within collections require a Pro plan, which means some characters, scenes, and one-off artwork aren’t available to free users. The Pro plan removes this limitation, giving you unlimited access to Blush’s growing library of over 10,000 illustrations.

Blush’s Pro plan also gives you access to more tools. Normally, the colors available for things like skin and hair are predetermined by a particular collection. But with Blush Pro, you can choose the color you want. Color filters are also only available for Blush Pro users and are a great way to add even more of your personal touch to artwork.

The download options, as briefly mentioned before, are also extended with Blush Pro. Normally, free users can only upload a small PNG of their creation, which is approximately 250 x 400 pixels.

Blush Pro allows users to upload much larger PNG files and opens up the option to upload your work in SVG file format. SVGs never pixelate and give absolute control over every layer of artwork, so they’re definitely the way to go if you’re a power user.
