Katharine McPhee, 37, shows off toned abs in lingerie text to hubby

Relationship goals and #fitspo in one Instagram post? Only Katharine McPhee could shoot this disabled. The singer-songwriter, 37, just gave his followers a taste of his marriage to musician David Foster by posting a screenshot of their text messages to his Instagram story.

In an instant, Katharine’s washboard abs are totally on display in a blue bra, black underwear, and a white shirt. “Texts with husband @davidfoster,” she captioned the screenshot, but can we speak from her heart? His abs look killer.

“I’m an underwear model now,” she wrote to David. He was more than supportive: “Vava VavA-voom,” he replied. “Hot mum, I tried you on a while ago but you are obviously busy undressing !! You look gorgeous !!! Wow !!!”

So how does Katharine also stay in shape? For starters, she trains three to four times a week for an hour, by Form. She loves to run long runs, but her trainer, Simon Carter, gives her a few extra exercises to keep things interesting.

“We’re going to run and we’re going, in the middle of each intersection, do 20 push-ups or 20 jump squats, then start running again and go four or five miles,” Katharine explained. Sometimes Katharine also makes sudden movements up and down to interrupt her runs.

His other trainer, Oscar Smith, said Way of life that Katharine is a “competitive athlete”. He helps Katharine with her strength training, but not the heavyweight type. “Some days without weights would be 15 reps of assisted pull-ups, bar pull-ups, reverse pull-ups, tight pull-ups, wide pull-ups, 50 dips, then 50 declining pull-ups, 50 slope push-ups, 50 regular push-ups,” he explained.

When Katharine and Smith want to focus on cardio, he helps her go through a circuit that can include anything from jump rope to sit-ups to box jumps.

The Smash The actress has also spoken openly about her struggles with bulimia in the past. While pregnant with her son Rennie, she said Today that she often felt overloaded during her first trimester. “It was really a transition and a balance for me to understand the food stuff,” she said.

“I think if you have problems with food it’s always something that there are phases when it comes back in your life and it haunts you and then you take it back,” Katharine added. “The feeling of having had a relapse after getting pregnant was really shocking, upsetting and worrying to me, because I was suddenly so obsessed with food, from that first trimester, and I had such a distortion of my look.”

But seeing a psychiatrist “made me feel so much better that I wasn’t alone in that headspace… just meeting him and talking to him about it,” Katharine said.
