WASHINGTON — An illustrated presentation, “William Hamilton Gibson: 19th Century Renaissance Man for the 21st Century” with science and botanical illustrator and art educator, Mary Ellen Carsley, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 on Zoom.
According to the Gunns, William Hamilton Gibson is part of a uniquely American artistic tradition inspired by the natural world. Active during the second half of the 19th century in what has been called the “Golden Age of American Illustration”, Gibson’s artwork and books extended far beyond the creating a visual narrative of the natural world for the growing popular new press audience.
