‘The Shop of Impossible Ice Creams’ is set for a family launch at Greystones Bookstore

Halfway Up The Stairs, an independent children’s bookstore in Greystones, held a family book launch on Saturday for Shane Hegarty’s new book, “The Shop of Impossible Ice Creams.”

meet from 4 p.m. at 5 p.m., the bestselling author will speak and read excerpts from his new book and answer questions from his young fans about his writing (and his favorite flavor of ice cream).

Trish Hennessy, owner of Halfway up the Stairs, says: “We are so delighted to welcome some of Ireland’s finest children’s writers and illustrators to Halfway up the Stairs, and introduce them to our young readers.

In 2019, the boutique opened with a focus on kids, and in May and June, Halfway up the Stairs held many free family-friendly events for their summer event series.

Every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Greystones boutique offers a story hour for children, without reservation.

The bookstore will also host an event called ‘Woof, Woof! It’s Murphy the Dog’, which is a story time drawing with Muireann Ní Chíobháin and Paul Nugent, author and illustrator of ‘Murphy’s Law’, a picture book about a very unlucky dog.

This children’s activity will take place on Saturday May 28th from 11am to 11:40am and on June 28th, Lauren O’Hara, the award-winning illustrator of ‘Once Upon a Fairytale’ will introduce a story hour.

Sarah Webb, Events Manager at Halfway up the Stairs, says, “Live book events are a great way to encourage and support young readers.”

In 2021, Halfway up the Stairs was voted a national finalist in the Independent Bookstore of the Year category and shortlisted for Children’s Bookseller of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
